I wish I had Angelica’s eye. Angelica has an absolutely amazing eye, especially for patterns. She sees patterns simply everywhere. She sees patterns in nature and in architecture. She sees patterns in reflections and shadows. She sees patterns in cemeteries. She sees patterns in mowed fields. She creates her own patterns and photographs them. She has a critical eye for natural light and knows how to exploit it, plus she knows how to use artificial light in extraordinary ways. She has an uncanny eye for the crop, and she tends to crop tightly, never including something that might detract from the impact of the picture. She sees line and curve and blends them. She has a faultless sense of composition. She has vast imagination. She seems to make no bad pictures and many glorious ones. She seems equally at home in the tight closeup and infinity focus. She finds the odd angle that perhaps no one else ever saw, gets there and photographs it, and (while I have said all my working life that cameras don’t matter) she does it all with a relatively simple compact: a Nikon Coolpix P7000, that some refer to as a “glorified point-and-shoot,” (which it is not)! She is really an amazing photographer! I wish I had her eye!
