Hi There!

My name is Andy Moraitis and I've been a hobbyist photographer since 2003. I started with film on an old Minolta Maxxum 5 and then worked my way into digital. My initial work is typical for someone trying to find their style. As I progressed, I found myself drawn to the unusual. If someone was taking a picture of a landscape, I was fixated on the wood grain of a park bench or a piece of trash laying on the ground. I like to look at life in detail and take a closer look at the things we normally overlook. I'm a big fan of lines, shapes, light and contrast. My photographs can be separated by states where we've lived, from Oklahoma to Arkansas to Louisiana and Michigan, Indiana and Tennessee.

The majority of my work has been shot with Sony Alpha DSLRs, most notably the Alpha 580. I started with a Sigma 105 macro lens and then eventually graduated to a Sony 16-50 SSM and then a Sony 50 macro lens. For the last 18 months, I've been shooting with a Fuji XT-3 and the amazing 16mm 1.4 lens. The Fuji unlocked my creativity through film simulations and by being unobtrusive. It's my favorite camera to date and is small enough that I can take it anywhere. I love the short focus distance that gives me the opportunity to see life in detail. It's also a great wide-angle lens and the speed lets me shoot in low light without issues. I appreciate that my film simulations let me focus on enjoying myself rather than being locked down with heavy post processing.

I'm not a technical photographer that understands the nuances of the exposure triangle and I don't feel the need to be. I choose to let the camera do most of the work and control aperture which frees me up to focus on what I see. That's where the fun comes in.

I hope you enjoy my images!
