Middle aged, amateur photographer with a penchant for aeroplanes and scenery. Married to a long suffering lady who is the rock on which I survive. Currently retired, thanks to Covid-19. 4 Children (only 2 are the fruit of my loins) and 3 grandchildren (1 24yr old Granddaughter and twins, born on 26/6/17). I grew up around Gatwick Airport and worked there until joining the RAF in 1973. After an eventful 23yrs, 1mth, 13days, I left to enter the world of civilian aviation. There I worked for several people. Starting with Hunting Airmotive in Croydon, then Serco at RAF Brize Norton. Here I did the same job in the engine bay as I had done in 1974 when Brize was my first posting. From there I moved to Manx Airlines on the Isle of Man. This became BA Citiexpress and BA Connect before being sold to Flybe, who promptly closed the engineering facility. I then went to Eastern at Humberside for 6 months before taking a contract with Virgin at Gatwick. I became permanent there and, 9 months later, was let go along with another 650 people, most of whom were over 50. Out of work for nearly a year I then went contracting with Easyjet at Luton followed by my first stint at Norwegian in Oslo. Finished there and went to Biggin Hill for a short stint followed by another short job with Astreaus, who went bust! From there to Thompson at Luton and then back to Norwegian for the summer of 2012. After this I contracted with British Airways and, like Virgin, I took a permanent position which didn't last long as they were awful to work for. Back to Oslo and Norwegian where I stayed until Covid decided I had to stop work. Since April 2022 I have lived in Nairn in the North of Scotland, which is a photographers paradise. Scotland is a country rich in beauty and stunning sights.
