Some of my earliest childhood memories are sitting in a darkroom magically watching images appear on pieces of paper as my mother gently swished them in what I thought was just water. When I was given my first camera from my Great Grandmother as a 5th birthday present, I was irreversibly hooked on photography. Primarily self taught, I’ve always had a predisposition towards landscape and panoramic photography, but found it cumbersome and expensive working with film. When I moved to digital in 2002 and started stitching panoramic photos together, I found it truly liberating. I could experiment without seeing dollar signs in front of my eyes every time I pushed the shutter button. I also loved the instant feed back you got from digital cameras, allowing me to correct mistakes while still being in the field.

My love of the Australian landscapes came from growing up in the country and spending most school holidays as a child camping in national parks. Landscape photography was therefore a natural progression for me. I am always trying to capture the beauty and mood that I’m seeing and feeling towards the vista in front of me and hopefully passing this on to the viewer. If I can do that, then I have succeeded.
