Andreas Brink is a self-taught photographer who started taking pictures at young age with an analog film camera. He discovered his true photographic style in Sweden with its unique nature, light and silence. Inspired by this atmosphere he tries to capture the essential elements in the landscape having a sensitive eye for detail and composition. His minimalistic approach is intensified by the monochrome view of his fine art work, deepening the great sense of peace and quietness.
Andreas works with images on a daily basis, even if of a special kind. He is a Geographer working with satellite images. His work as a scientist brings him regularly to Africa, which allows him to discover this magnificent continent not only from space, but also with his camera on the ground.
Living in Italy he considers himself a true citizen of the world (or at least Europe), since he is of German origins, born in Italy and married to a Swede.
His work is published in photo magazines such as Colorfoto and Minimalism and in books such as “10 autori in cerca di personaggio” project by Emilio Mendoza de Gyves and “Síndrome Sur – 22 crónicas meridionales” by José Joaquín Beeme. His Africa images are frequently printed in scientific journals and policy reports. In 2022 he was semi-finalist in the Natural Landscape Photography Awards, in 2021 he was nominated at the Fine Art Photography Awards and in 2019 he received honorable mentions in the Minimalist Photography Awards. Andreas was also international jury member of the Wiki Science Photo Competition in 2018. He arranged exhibitions in Italy including slide shows accompanied by live music where he and his saxophone duets with the piano. Andreas is president of the Foto Cine Club of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission in Ispra, Italy.
