I'm an avid photographer and camera nut living in southern Maine in the USA. I own and use 35mm, medium format, and large format cameras. I also sell used camera gear on eBay fairly often, mostly to fund the addiction I have to continually buying more old gear. I used to be on Flickr for many, many years (as D2Gallery) and with thousands of photos posted, but over time my usage slowed down and I eventually closed my account. I joined again in 2018, and have continued to enjoy what this platform has to offer.
I greatly appreciate any faves and comments I receive on my photos, and most of the time I will reciprocate. There is one exception to this, and that is when a fav comes from a Flickr user who is clearly just working the system. What I mean by that is if I go to your Flickr page and see that you have thousands or even tens of thousands of followers, yet you are only following a small number of people, I see this as evidence you are working the system. And most often when this is true, that user has hundreds of faves on every photo they post. I see that user as someone who is likely to have faved my photo simply to get more faves on their own photos and/or more followers. Forgive me if I'm being cynical, but I have no interest in that sort of Flickr user. When it comes to making Flickr connections, I prefer quality over quantity.
