[Written in 2009, Updates below] I've been a point & shoot photographer for many years, basically taking average photos of holidays, etc. But recently have got a bit more serious in trying to understand more about what makes a good photo and how I can start making some :-) I've been encouraged by some friends saying that my photos are 'good' so have invested in a better camera and have been reading up on photo creativity, although part of me is resistant to just understanding formulas for photos, I still want to experiment and find my own style.
I have also (ambitiously) started a one-photo-a-day this year (2009) - which has been stretching me both creatively and my understanding of my camera. I joined a local photography group and was asked what kind of photos I like to take. I didn't really have an answer then, so I'm trying to see both what I like to look at and what I like to shoot.
I've joined a few Flickr groups where I can post some that I think are of good enough quality. I think that I especially like the urban street photography but am new to this so am still a bit nervous about it.
I have two cameras - my trusty Canon IXUS 400 and my Canon EOS 400D, which I've added a wide-angle Sigma 10-20mm and a zoom Canon 70-300mm DO IS. I think next I need to get a prime lens for doing some portrait-type photos next!
That's about enough of me (well definitely all that I'll reveal on here). Take a look at my photos ... and let me know what you think...
[26/04/10 Update] Well, I've bought myself a Canon 7D and a 18-200 lens for it ...
[08/01/19 Update] Been a long time since I updated this! I took a break from doing much photography, other things in my life easily filled the gap. I've tried on and off to complete my "100 Strangers" but not rushing to do for the numbers. But maybe this year I will get a few more in the bag. I came back to Flickr when presented with the option of losing a large amount of photos here. So, now I'm paying for it, I might want to get my moneys worth and do some more snapping!
Hope you enjoy
