A Coastal Ambassador is someone who has an interest in coast and marine conservation and wants to learn as much as they can about these environments. Essentially they are community champions who willingly share knowledge within their community and actively participate in helping to protect and conserve the coast.
Coastal Ambassadors is a training and mentoring community established by the Adelaide and Mt Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board in 2010. The program is now part of the Green Adelaide coastal program and run every summer.
The program presents a series of expert talks, workshops and field trips to support, educate and inspire individuals about coast and marine environments and what can be done to help conserve them.
The program is open to anyone living in the Green Adelaide region and is free for participants. Interactive field trips such as supervised snorkeling and kayaking excursions allow participants to gain knowledge by actively enjoying these spectacular marine environments.
All activities are held in the evenings or on weekends. This highly sought after program accepts 18 placements each year.
