Ameyaw Debrah is a West Africa’s Number One Celebrity/showbiz Journalist. He is an easy going and likeable chap with a keen interest in good music and humour. He holds a B.A Publishing Studies degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he was voted the Best Publishing Student in his year group. He attended some of the best schools in Ghana, Adisadel College and Englebert International School, where he was the Head Prefect. At Adisadel, he studied General Science because he aspired to become a medical doctor. There, he found a new passion for expressing himself when he joined the Adisadel Writers and Debaters Club, and eventually became the Editor for the club. He later diverted from his science background to study Publishing at the university.

 

After university, he did his National Service at Ovation International (Ghana) Limited and stayed on after completing his service. At Ovation, he became the Research/Online-Editor. Through his work, he has interviewed and met many international celebrities such Kofi Annan (former UN Secretary General), President J.A Kufuor, Rev Jesse Jackson, President Obasanjo, John Legend, Damon Dash, Ozwald Boateng, Pearl Amoah, Jay Z, Akon, Ade Bantu, Dentaa, Kojo “The Fresh Prince of Hackney” and many others.

 

Ameyaw created the critically acclaimed column, “The Awful Truth with Ameyaw”, for Star Newspaper, a weekly entertainment and lifestyle broadsheet published by African Communications Ltd. He won the hearts of many readers with his sharp and often very accurate critique of Ghana’s emerging entertainment industry. His writings are amongst the most enjoyed and celebrated in countries where ovation magazines are circulated. He has now taken his works across the globe on the worldwide web through his on-line column on www.jamati.com, and his contributions to www.orijin-ent.com, and Voices of Africa or www.africanews.com. He is also a content editor for www.ghanaweb.com and has a column as well on ghanaweb.
