Moscow based, Moscow Artists Union member, fine art photographer Dmitry Donskoy mainly

works in Black and White Film and Wet Plate Collodion techniques.

Dmitry had performed lots of exhibitions and art magazine publications, mostly on Black&White filming. He works for more than 23 years in advertising and fashion/beauty photography and can clearly split the base of commercial shooting and art: " My opinion is that art and creation are the same. It means an act of cognition the world through probing it with fantasy. The unexpected result is the sought-for. It is a gift from God to those who keep on searching. On the opposite, commercial work means the predictable, nearly mathematical result. For me making product in mass workmanship is the same as to live and not to breath the fresh air. The fresh air of experiment. To have wings and not to fly is an offense. Fine Art Photography is love, spirit and substance of my life. I feel completely fascinated with large format cameras. I use a 4 of them – different sizes – for Wet Plates and two – for Film. They both are 4x5 inch – Sinar F and Linhof Master Technika 5.
