i would say that i've always been a pretty visual person. i really appreciate how photography helps my creative processes. i constantly learn to see things more creatively; learn to look at things more creatively. even when i don't have a camera with me (somewhat rare, but i haven't had a pocket camera in years now), i can still think to myself, 'these shadows are interesting' or 'this is really great light' or 'this could be a great frame'.
if you are reading this, maybe i've piqued your interest in my profile by my leaving a comment or fave'ing one of your works. whatever the case may be...
i'm not one that cares if i have thousands of contacts. i am not here to 'collect' tens of thousands of favorites. i don't see this as a popularity contest; and i don't feel any kind of gratification from such novelties. if you were to look at my faves, these are truly inspiring images to my eyes, worthy of the highest praise and attention i can give them. so far, i have sixty 'faved' images.
what i do value are thoughtful people, willing to take a moment to give feedback or remarks. good, bad, constructive, productive. i find flickr a great resource. it is like a global focus group... neutral people (that i don't necessarily know in any way), without any preconceived biases, telling how it is.
to me, these potential relationships can develop and flourish. if you take that little effort, i will almost certainly add you to my contacts, review your 'stream regularly, and continue to do so on an ongoing basis. To me, I appreciate the community aspect of flickr.
one of my mantras is 'always learning.' i constantly want to work to improve my captures, techniques, and knowledge base. and usually, i am more than happy to try to help others or answer any questions you may have for me.
another mantra of mine is 'simple is the hardest.' in photographic terms, taking the mundane, an everyday object, an environment that many pass through each day... and making it beautiful, dynamic, interesting, intriguing, memorable... these are the things i seek out to accomplish.
sure i shoot digital, using the cheapest ILC made: the Sony a3000. Currently, I've got the 18-55 OSS kit lens, Sony 20/2.8 pancake, Konica AR Hexanon 40/1.8 pancake, Vivitar 135/2.8 (M42), Vivitar 200/3.5 (Konica AR), Neewer TT-560 speedlite, and some other accessories/gear.
I shot on Nikon system for work, having over 15 lenses and 4 camera bodies. I loved the CLS feature of Nikon. I no longer have any of this equipment and am just working to re-build my kit. Currently, I'm just shooting for enjoyment.
I also loved shooting Holgas. The lo-fi approach and happy accidents were so fun. Vignetting, cross-processing, sprocket exposures, light leaks... All that yummy deliciousness!
I did camera and lens mods. Used to work a lot in darkroom, creating my own film development recipes using household ingredients (like coffee, tea, wine, tree bark, orange peels, etc.). I loved that process, if I can get back into film (and scanning), I'd love it. Maybe eventually.
thanks for visiting
cheers.
