I have been seriously into amateur photography since my early 20s, my first proper camera was a Fuji FinePix S900 in 2008, then a Cannon EOS 600D in 2014 and a Cannon EOS 90D in 2021. I started producing short video films alongside my photographs in 2010 using a Panasonic HDC-SD10. As time went on I grew into videography and started to produce what I hope are more short films which would tell the story as much as showing the action. In 2016 I got a 4K Panasonic HC-VX870 and in 2022 a 4K Panasonic HC-VXF990 which gave me two 4K quality cameras for multiple angles, these are available on my YouTube channel Ashley Smith Steam Videos... www.youtube.com/channel/UCipJ2ixVSLz3XDx3DLWJnsQ

My main love is railways, steam trains in particular! Originally based in Sussex and now living in Hertfordshire my Flickr page features selected countrywide main line steam chases alongside visits to galas and special events at heritage lines across the country, usually in the company of my wife and our train mad son who was born in 2016, both of whom from time to time can be found in my photos. On the 8th October 2024 a new addition joined the Smith family, Zack Laurence Eric Smith, born at 2.33pm and he will no doubt be joining his brother chasing steam shortly!
