So you want to know, who is Iris Memory Books?

Well let’s start with a little introduction

My name is Ben Twehues. I am a husband now for 14 years and the father to a 4 (going on sixteen) year old girl, and a 3 year old boy. Family is everything to me and I spend as much time as I can with them. I work a normal 9-5 type job during the day, and spend my evenings working in my yard or around the house, or just playing with the kids.

Where the idea of Iris Memory Books Came From

My wife and I have always enjoyed taking pictures and making scrapbooks. We would (before the kids) spend our evenings with pictures and paper spread out all over the floor. In recent years I have began to really enjoy making memory books (aka photo books) on the computer and having the entire thing, pictures and all printed. These books look just as great, if not better as the scrapbooks we use to make, but they are much smaller and compact, and you don’t have to worry about the sticky stuff that holds the pictures to the book becoming un-sticky. Recently while making a 2012 Family Memory Book, I got to looking around the internet and realized that there are quite a number of sites where you can create a photo book and have it printed, but not many that will create the book for you. This kind of surprised me. I was even more surprised when I looked at the pricing to have someone make a photo book for me. Most of them were charging more than $200.00 for a simple 11×8 landscape style, hardcover book. WOW! That’s when I came up with the idea of Iris Memory Books.

The Concept of Iris Memory Books

There are many people out there that would love to have a beautiful custom made memory book to show off, but for one reason or another can’t make one. It might be because they are just too busy or maybe they have no idea how. Take for instance my Mom. She tries but she just doesn’t get it. She once tried to make a photo book online of her grandkids, but when the book arrived in the mail only 10 of the 20 pages had pictures on it. She had only created half of a book. Another example would be my Mother-in-Law. She takes more pictures than anyone I know. She loves to have her pictures printed so she has something she can hold and show off, but the pictures end up in a box. What I am offering is a way to take those precious memories and get them out of the box or off of the computer and into a great memory book you can place on your shelf for all to see. I also don’t want you to spend a small fortune to be able to get a beautiful memory book. There’s really no reason why you should spend over $200.00 for a photo book.

Where the name Iris Memory Books came from

When I decided to create this website one of the first things I wanted to do was come up with a name. Doing this was easier said than done. I thought about it for a few days and then it hit me. One of my favorites memories was visiting my Grandma and her showing me her flowers she had growing in her yard. One of her favorite flowers was the Iris. She always had many different colors of Iris’ and was very proud of them. Before she passed away, she told me she wanted me to take as many of the Iris’ as I wanted and plant them in my yard. She is gone now and I have a beautiful Iris garden in my yard that blooms with many colored Iris’ every spring. Whenever I look at the Iris’ I think of my Grandma and times we spent together. These types of memories are what I want to offer in the Memory Books I create for you. That is why Iris Memory Books is the perfect name for this website.
