I restarted my interest in photography in August 2009 after a long break from 35mm SLR which I used to pursue from the age of 16 when my Dad got me a Ricoh SLR. My entry into the digital world was via a Fuji S5800 p&s which as a fairly basic camera produced some great results. I then raided the piggy bank for a Canon EOS 1000d which took a bit of getting used to as I did not find it as forgiving as my old 35mm and which I have since upgraded to 500d. In the early part of 2010, I was lucky enough to acquire a Olympus E-Pen1 and that is my current arsenal with a mixture of prime lenses and a bazooka of a zoom.
Over the course of the year I have developed a passion for taking photos on the street . Unstaged photographs showing the funny, sad, or heart-warming in everyday life. The undeniable uniqueness of people. This is what drives me. To capture little bits and pieces of everyday life which are fleeting and once they disappear, they are gone forever. It is about community, even if it pictures solitude. It can be ironic, but never offending. To me, everyday life is fascinating. The routines, the surprises, the mountains of new things we all experience every day. Walk down any given street and thousands of individual stories are being played . Sometimes when I push the button, and I hear the click, I know. I just know that I’ve recorded something special, and my stomach flutters.
I seek candid moments – ordinary people at ordinary places … just acting the way they are …the way we all are

Alison packs her camera into an old rucksack that once belonged to her son , gets up when most sensible people are still sleeping and heads to the coast...... This is where the story often begins with the sets of images in Alison's photostream. I always relish the results of her seaside trips best watched as a slideshow. Her images are a compendium of delights, - a rich commentary photo journalistic style - favourite book to be poured over on a rainy day - box of chocolates to savour - which to choose today ? Alison is a one the best treats here in the Flickrverse and it just keeps getting better and better. Hold on to your seats everyone !
