I love being outdoors and I appreciate nature. I also love to travel and enjoy capturing what I see through photography.
I joined Flickr back in 2005, and I enjoy Flickr for the groups and the wonderful, friendly people I have met through the years. I have seen many places in the world through your eyes and love it! Thanks for sharing your photos and your world!
I was born in Brooklyn and lived on Long Island, New York for most of my adult life. So many people have heard of Long Island and may have an inaccurate idea of what it is like. It is very much like other suburban areas of the USA and being close to New York City, it has an added diversity that is wonderful. It also has miles of shoreline, and many parks at the national, state and county level.
When I lived on Long Island, I lived near the water and enjoyed the beach and boating. With a private boat I was able to go where many Long Islanders could not. The Fire Island National Seashore was close to home and has limited access by private boat or ferry. It is all nature and beach, without the crowds, and so close to my heart!
I am now retired from teaching and live in Florida with my husband. We love our new Florida lifestyle which includes being outdoors most days! Being retired we can travel more often. My albums here group photos by location and may combine different years. It includes not only my Long Island images, but my many trips into "the city"...New York City, and my new Florida experience, as well as the travels my husband and I have taken.
Thank you!

It's about time I write a testimony that matters most to me. Alida has become one of my favorite flickr friends for a variety of reasons. She takes great pictures consistently around her Long Island community and abroad. Yet what I also appreciate about her is her continual support and education on flickr. Her personal messages and warm comments have helped encourage my own photography more than any other source here on flickr! If you have found Alida's flickr you have found a gem and a great person! Thank you Alida, I appreciate you! :^)
