I guess that I would best describe myself as "gittus miserablis". I was born in Cornwall and spent the first 49 years of my life there, why I left is a matter for my own conscience, but I still think that it is the most beautiful place to live and work. I now live in Leith, a distinctive part of Edinburgh.
Having spent many years painting it came to the point where I thought that photography was by far the better (easier) medium for my creativity to follow. I have always been interested in photography, having been give my first camera at about the age of 7. Over the years I have been through very many film cameras, and have always seemed to settle on a Canon, except for one brief encounter with a very crappy Olympus.
I came to digital photography seriously rather late only acquiring my first DSLR in 2010. I had owned two or three small point and shoot cameras previously but had never thought that the results were that good - that is until I discovered the Canon Powershot range, which in my humble opinion surpass, and still do, all other small cameras.
When I finally made the decision to take photography seriously as a creative medium I, after much research, settled for the EOS 550D which is an excellent camera, even though it has a few limitations, but doesn't everything?
