Welcome. ようこそ
UPDATE Sept 21st, 2024: I recently deleted Twitter because, well, we probably all know why. And ten days ago, I had my Instagram and Threads accounts suspended for some unknown reason. Which I can't appeal because their support system is broken and I've received none of the codes they've sent to my mobile phone. And there is no way of contacting a human at Meta. So, the universe is trying to tell me something. And that something is "Time to get back to Flickr, Alfie."
British, professional, commercial photographer with more than 25 years of pro experience. Hasselblad Ambassador in Japan, 2015. Based in Tokyo, where I also teach photography. Teaching privately, also for JEARA (Japan Assoc. of Arts Education) and lecture occasionally for Tokyo Institute of Technology.
Recent clients have included: McLaren Automotive, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Fuso, Japan National Orchestra, Exile Cinema Fighters Project, Porsche, Shiseido, Mr. Children, Tokyo International Film Festival, Canon, Mitsubishi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lexus, Mazda, Haneda Airport, United Airlines, KLM, Cathay Pacific, Edge Magazine, Wall Street Journal, Travel & Leisure Magazine.. and many more. Was British Embassy Official Photographer for the visit to Japan of HRH The Duke of Cambridge, 2015.
Studio and location: happy shooting in either. But prefer outdoors.
In 2019 I started presenting a travel programme for NHK World television, called 'Journeys in Japan'
I've made shows so far in Rausu and Muroran in Hokkaido; Yokohama, Haterumajima, Sendai and am shortly off to Tochigi to make the latest episode.
The Koyasan episode is here:

Alfie has a unique approach to street photography, which has been inspiring to me and to several friends who share my respect for his work. His aptitude to capture the moment and frame it in a perfect manner, is of the highest level. The fact the he is, in addition of a very gifted photograph, a very kind person is the bonus (or the cherry on the cake) ! I am looking forward for the upcoming book(s) he will publish.

Such great photos...fascinated by the mood and the city Tokyo itself
It was a pleasure seeing newest photography from you in Tokyo especially you had Hayao Miyazaki photography. I'm always envy how you capture the right moment of motion. Thanks for sharing with all of us. ^^
I love the mood of your street photographs.
This man forced me to buy a 85mm lens with his amazing bokeh shots. Shame on you for feeeding my lens envy. Seriously though, love the shots. He has inspired me to go back to Japan again to shoot. Glad you came back to flickr.
really fantastic photos
Great talent until the last pixel.

Alfie, Alfie, Alfie Bumped into Alfie in the press club out in Tokyo. Hit it off from the start, there has not been a photographer who has inspired me more, or taught me more about the art for that matter. The kommander of bokeh, he has an innate ability to create beauty out of the simplest of things. Look out for a strange looking man lurking around Shibuya, probably taking photos of taxis. If you see him, I urge you to take him out for a pint, or at least buy him one from me. A great guy to go out shooting with, watch out though, you will get jealous. Not long now 'til our photojournalistic collaborations take over the world. That and us owning the nikon house in Ginza.

I miss you Alfie :(
Every time I come to see what new work Alfie has done, I come away so inspired, and at the same time I feel so unaccomplished. Without trying to sound jealous, I wish I had his eyes to see the pictures he composes and his diligence to accomplish such outstanding works. I do know that I am learning from him, and I am … Read more

I do know that I am learning from him, and I am glad he puts his efforts here where I can see what a D300 can do.

AlfieUK - with his cute headshot. His great sets of great pictures amazed me big time. All crisp and clean, simple yet honest. I never get bored of turning back to his flicker page. And yes, he is so lucky having his great family and friends, because he deserve it. Alfie, you rock!
Alfie, is one of the most talented photographers I have found on Flickr. Many times I will see technically astute images sorely lacking in qualities of emotion and on the other hand I see emotive images that could be greatly improved with a bit more tecnical savy, like mine for instance. :) Alfie's work masters bot… Read more
Alfie, is one of the most talented photographers I have found on Flickr. Many times I will see technically astute images sorely lacking in qualities of emotion and on the other hand I see emotive images that could be greatly improved with a bit more tecnical savy, like mine for instance. :) Alfie's work masters both and that's why I think he is one of the best I've seen on here, I enjoy his images immensely!
