Amateur photographer, love the outdoors wild life and birds. Any spare time I will go out to photograph. Most times like to go by myself.
I grew up in Africa but never did photography could not afford the equipment at the time, but loved the outdoors the animals and the wild birds so many where I grew up. I built my own Avery age 15. I trapped and caught so many wild birds, over one hundred in my Avery at one time . I even sold some to pet stores like my favorite the Twin Spots some probably landed in North American pet stores seen them here.
Looking back now would I still have my Avery, no I would be photographing them all and having the time of my life in the African bushveld.
I now live in North America a bird paradise too. So glad I did the right move, so many beautiful birds in North America like Ontario Canada and Florida US that are hard to find in Africa.
I take two cameras when I go out, Canon 7D Mark II and a new Canon R5 full frame. Lenses a 500mm f/4 L and 300mm f/2.8 L. includes both Extenders 1.4 & 2x . A stool, binoculars, tripod, remotes and a backpack with a variety of spare items, batteries charger fully charged just in case. GPS even though new Camera has GPS. Last but not the least Cigars lighter and cutter.
Love smoking a great cigar a Cuban or my favorite a Perdomo Maduro from Nicaragua.
I sit back relax and wait for the birds to come by.
I only photograph birds and animals in the wild never photograph captured birds or animals. I never stress them out only a few shots. While walking along I always have one camera at the ready in case only seconds to snap. So for this reason I set camera to Aperture Priority for most shots and Shutter priority if I know it will be a flight shot. Camera at the ready my lens a 300mm f2.8 set up at times with a 1.4 Extender.
Every year I choose a different bird to photograph Spring Summer Fall and Winter.
My favorite bird to photograph so far the Belted Kingfisher reason not that easy.
I capture the beauty of the wild one picture at a time.
Some years I have calendars made up using my best photos of the year.
Hope soon to have some of my best bird photos in a book to have around the house.

I very much enjoyed going through your photostream. The kingfishers and bald eagles are my favorites but there are so many photos that are amazing. I look forward to seeing all your new photos of the birds and other animals!
