After founding his first venture almost twenty years ago, Alex is the creator of a strong and respected brand. His initial concept was to bring relatable photography to the general populace, and he started it all with Proud Galleries. Boasting three exhibition spaces in Central London, Alex’s galleries can be found in Embankment, Camden, and Chelsea.
Other conquests have included taking two historic venues and reinvigorating them for new audiences. In his hometown of Brighton, he renovated the Hanbury Ballroom, reopening it as the Proud Cabaret Brighton. He also converted a former horse hospital into Proud Camden, a unique venue featuring stables for its guests to enjoy HD television and video games.
Alex Proud now enjoys the reputation of being one of the pre-eminent minds on photographic and media issues, appearing on all mainstream television channels and sitting on judging panels such as the Nikon Press Awards. He has recently been appearing as a dealer on Channel 4’s popular show Four Rooms, where individuals can entice dealers into purchasing what they hope are actually valuable artifacts.
