My ultimate aim is to become an interior designer working in property development. However in preparation for that I would like to experience other aspects of design to gain knowledge and insight into areas such as Graphic and Spatial design. This is the main reason I have chosen the foundation course because I believe it will provide me with a broader experience on which to base my final decision for a degree course. I have recently visited the New Designers Exhibition in Islington where I saw some extremely varied and inspirational work using spatial and graphic design; the process of crafting and constructing these pieces of work was particularly interesting and provide the motivation for me to want to discover more. I found the application of spatial design in producing unique layouts of rooms for specific business functions inspiring and it was interesting to see how aspects of Art Deco and Bauhaus were incorporated to enhance the effects. These designs made me realise that with creative thinking there is a vast range of possibilities that lie ahead and this exhibition, together with visits to the V&A museum have made me really certain that design is the career path that I wish to follow.

I am a well organised and self-motivated student; I enjoy group work and I feel completely confident in discussing my ideas with my peers; I value the opinions of others and I listen carefully to advice and do my best to act on it. I very much enjoy the whole process of project work from the initial development of ideas and prototypes to the final product. Through design I have found that I can portray my qualities and skills, and I look forward to developing these further through the foundation course.
