Ala was one of the first people I met on Flickr, and I have the true privilege of watching his uniquely remarkable talent flourish over the years. His shots of creatures, particularly of insects and birds, are truly outstanding. Ala's candid eye for life portraits, his portraiture of street folks or simply ordinary lives in Sudan or his bold compositions of cityscapes and the wilderness have left me a window to a part of the world I am least familiar with.
