Alans' Ethos on Photography

If taking photos makes you happy then that's all that matters....

If someone else likes your photo then pat yourself on the back and smile in the knowledge somewhere someone has seen the world through your eyes .

Remember only 10 % of "critique" is from people genuinely wanting to help you improve..... the other 90% is pretentious claptrap from people who take photos to try and please others and not themselves.

Above all take photos to please you, it will show in the photos you take..... pleasing everyone else is a bonus.

Camera

Yes (I found it helps)

Lenses

Big long one for far away things and to impress the ladies

Short stubby one to save me falling backwards over ledges when I run out of room (Also to remind me I'm not impressive)

Various other twiddly bits

All of which apparently make taking photos easier but still dont stop me falling on my bum when climbing mountains to take pics.

Sad Status

Sadly Flickr has dealt me a cruel blow and pronounced that I'm Male and Open.....open to what I don't know but given I didn't know I was meant to be shut I'm currently aiming to be slightly ajar although It appears my aim is pretty crap too.
