I first picked up a SLR in 1973 and thus begun a love of photography. In those days nothing was automatic, even the exposure times - thank goodness for light meters. I soon traded in my first SLR for a Canon ft and a couple of years later for an ftb. I collected several lenses over the years only to discover that Canon (in their wisdom?) decided to change the fitting (yes, and a lot of other things too!) . Then digital photography came and I was hooked immediately, but it wasn't until 2006 that I bought my first DSLR, a Canon EOS 30D. Unless you have been in photography for over 30 years as I have, you could not believe the enormity of the difference between then and now. I personally would not go back to smelly darkrooms, agonising waits for prints to come and being careful as to how many shots you would take (film was not expensive, but good processing was).

My favourite area of photography is nature, everything from a single flower to an amazing sunset. I also like photography people, but then over the years it was, at times my job to photograph people (weddings, children, portraits etc). I also love photography butterflies and birds. Now though anything goes really.

In August 2010 I traded in my EOS 30D for an EOS 50D - what a trade up. This really takes photography to a new level. I admit I was becoming a little bored with my photography (perish the thought), but with my new 50D it has come alive once again.

In May 2013 I traded in my 50D for a wonderful 5D mk 3 and a few weeks later also added a 7D to my collection. Now with all the lenses I need and two wonderful Canon cameras I have no excuses for bad photographs.

I have now moved to Hinckley in Leicestershire and have at last found where I want to be.
