“Within every man and woman a secret is hidden, and as a photographer it is my task to reveal it if I can. The revelation, if it comes at all, will come in a small fraction of a second with an unconscious gesture, a gleam of the eye, a brief lifting of the mask that all humans wear to conceal their innermost selves from the world. In that fleeting interval of opportunity the photographer must act or lose his prize.”
And that is what I try to find too...
I'm a Finnish freelance photographer and darkroom technique teacher. Working mostly with portraits and music also messing around with every other style of photography too. My flickr is mostly a showcase of my "non-professional" and experimental stuff.
I've just moved to João Pessoa after living a few years in São Paulo and Buenos Aires. I like learning new things and experimenting with all imaginable methods and techniques.
I'm fascinated by people and their faces. One facial expression can tell the story of a whole lifetime and capturing at least a glimpse of this is my (sometimes very hard) mission. I appreciate simplicity over complexity. Nowadays modern cameras have made it too "easy" to great technically good images and people forget to pay attention to the visual poetry that photography - just like any other visual art - should be.
As I'm kind of new in Brazil I look forward to meeting people from close and far, change ideas and make new friends. All feedback is always welcome, good and bad. One learns from feedback and as an artist, a photographer will never be ready. Thanks for looking, and feel free to contact me!!
