AKLERIAH was formed in 2009 as a collaboration between artists Anna Kompaniets and Lenka Horakova (Lenka Johanna-Marie), who met on Goldsmiths BA Fine Arts (Art Practice).

Akleriah started with site specific conceptual performance art with artists and performers of all mediums with the main goal of creating performative experiences which challenge perceptions of space, allowing the audience to be an essential part of the performance. The audience is never separted by boundaries from the performers in an Akleriah performance, letting people to interact and explore the performance at their leisure, giving each viewer a unique, memorable and personal experience.

Lenka and Anna are inspired by their Czech and Russian backgrounds and filter their herritage in challenging and thought provoking ways.

Akleriah practice has evolved into project based work, focusing on ecologoical themes, consumerism, exploring ritualism, spirituality, playfulness, folklore, image making and its symbolism.

Akleriah offer unique art workshops. Both artists care deeply about Mother Earth and encourage the public to reuse and reaproach the general waste of contemporary consumer society; to be ethically conscious while having creative fun!

Also, most of the costumes designed for each performance use partially recycled materials such as bottle tops, plastic bags, recycled textiles and everyday degradable household materials.

Lenka and Anna perform and share organisational responsibilities. Their roles are primarily delineated between Lenka, who works with concepts and choreography,

and Anna, who creates costumes, hair and make-up.

Typically, performances involve an eclectic combination of artists: Musicians (combining classical, alternative and electronic), opera singers, dancers (all backgrounds), additional actors, photographers, videographers, technicians and enthusiastic members of public who share Akleriah's passion.
