I am a passionate photographer (in fact, I'm completely immersed in photography!). I have always loved photography. I love to look back through old family photos, to feel a connection with the young lady who I had only ever known as a grandmother, to imagine the event or to witness a magical moment in the lives of others. I hope that the photographs I take create similar feelings for others and continue to do so well into the future.

While I will photograph anything to continually grow and stretch my creativity and skills, I love to photograph people, destinations and creatures. I love to capture an expression or a detail that would otherwise go undocumented. I love interacting with children and families to capture a moment full of emotion. I love bearing witness to big life moments – love, the arrival of a precious little one or a birthday, as well as the little moments full of meaning – a touch, a kiss, a look, a gesture. I love documenting life and moments as I see them to create lasting memories – life, moments, memories.

My photography business is 'Akemi Photography'. Japanese in origin, Akemi (明, ah-‘keh-mee), means brilliant and beautiful. I found these meanings to fit with my emotions for photography. Photographs should document the brilliance and beauty of our lives, the lives of those that share our world, and those significant and everyday moments in the journey’s we’re all taking.
