My name is Aletha, and I live in Tulsa, OK, better known as Tornado Alley. I am married to a wonderful man who is my rock and soul mate. We have two grown children, a daughter and son. Our daughter and son-in-law have blessed us with two grandsons. The oldest grandson made us great grandparents. Our son married a wonderful young lady in 2009, and they have blessed us with another grandson.

A little bit about me…I am an artist and designer all around. Many years ago I was a graphic/print production artist, so I have been involved in some form of “art” most of my adult life. In the mid-2000s, I was enjoying some success creating and selling mixed-media art pieces on canvas and in shadowboxes, and also handmade journals, bookmarks, and ornaments at various art shows in northeastern Oklahoma. I also taught classes on how to create mixed-media art with rubber stamps and very much enjoyed being an instructor. I’ve even had a few “fine” art pieces—actually, I think all art is pretty “fine”—displayed and even sold in galleries.

As of November 2009, I became disabled (diagnosed with Alpha-1) and unable to work outside the home. I am on oxygen 24/7 but still pretty spry, and with the supportive husband that I have, I am thankful to say that I am a very lucky artist. I am able to practice more each day. Now I get to concentrate on my more creative side.

I am truly blessed.

You are going to find that I have been an avid card designer for the past several years. I am trying to get back to my mixed-media art, but designing cards is still calling me. I do have a blog at my website AJ’s Design Artz. I appreciate all visits and look forward to engaging other like-minded artists and art lovers who reach out to me.
