Work:

Railwayman since leaving school in 1980. First with British Rail Southern Region (South Eastern Division); then Trainload Freight (Southern & Anglia); Railfreight Distribution (RfD); English Welsh and Scottish Railways (EWS); DB Schenker (DBS), London Overground (LOROL), and finally Freightliner Ltd (the intermodal division of Freightliner). Currently an 'International Man of Leisure' having taken early retirement at the beginning of April 2016.

Photography:

Nowadays a Canon EOS 50D (and a Canon SX700HS for carrying in a pocket when I don't want to lug the 50D around). The first camera I used with any serious intent was a Lubitel 2 using B&W 120 roll film which Flickrite '74009' and I developed, and then printed from, ourselves. As a result of working in the transport industry I take an interest in most forms of transport and my photography often reflects this. I'll also take photographs of anything and everything else that catches my eye, taking inspiration from the work of Flickrite contacts and friends.

Leisure:

Travel particularly, and languages, interest me. All sorts of other interests too but none to the level of fanatiscism. Bit of a 'Jack of all trades and master of none' :-). Active in railway preservation since 1977, initially at the Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway until about 2000 and from then at the Chatham Historic Dockyard Railway (although I remain a life member of the S&KLR. Oh, and then there's the double-decker bus.......

Flickr:

I have found Flickr a great source of inspiration, entertainment and even education. I try to comment as often as I can on my contact's photos, and greatly appreciate the inspiration and information from the images and comments of others.

Late Red:

My name on Flickr used to be "Jupiler", after a Belgian 'Eurofizz' lager which has featured in my past (and not just through drinking it occasionally). However, I thought I'd change it to "Late Red" to mark the name of one of my favourite British real ales, from Shepherd Neame.
