AIBA Pro Boxing (APB) is the only individual Professional Boxing competition that allows boxers to compete whilst retaining their Olympic eligibility.

 

APB is a pro-boxing program, run under the governance of AIBA and in partnership with AIBA National Member Federations.

 

The APB boxers’ roster comprises the best AIBA Open Boxing (AOB) and World Series of Boxing (WSB) athletes as well as a selection of Professional boxers from around the world.

APB - The road to Rio 2016 for Pro boxers!

Rio 2016 will be the first Olympic Games in the history allowing pro boxers to compete. However, the only route Pro boxers can take to qualify for the Olympic Games in 2016 is through the APB competition, which is fully supported by the International Olympic Committee (IOC)

 

The qualification pathway to the Games will be through competing in the APB program from its launch in 2014 until the APB Olympic Qualifying Events in 2015.

 

Only boxers under 40 with a record of less than 20 Pro bouts are eligible. In order to compete in APB, all current Pro boxers should re-register with their AIBA National Member Federations).

 

Competition format:

 

One ranking card = 5-6 bouts

Bout = 8 rounds

Round = 3 minutes

 

Title bouts:

 

With clear, reliable and indisputable rankings, the best will only fight the best.

There will be 10 title bouts of 12 rounds to define a Champion in each Weigh category:

 

•Light Flyweight (49kg)

•Flyweight (52kg)

•Bantamweight (56kg)

•Lightweight (60kg)

•Light Welterweight (64kg)

•Welterweight (69kg)

•Middleweight (75kg)

•Light Heavyweight (81kg)

•Heavyweight (91kg)

•Super Heavyweight (91+kg)
