Most of what you'll see on here are railroad photos; and I was caught with the railfan bug at an early age. Santa showed up with my first Lionel set in 1990 when I was 6, and that of course led into an interest with the real things. In addition to a fall night game at Jordan-Hare, a cherished pastime is spending a sunny day trackside with the camera full of slide film.
Slides? Oh yes, I still stick to the traditional ways of doing business with my photos. No offense to my friends and the great digital photos they take; but for me there is just something lacking about photography without a real physical product. And nothing is better than getting a package back from the lab, pouring a glass of good whiskey, and firing up the projector to see slides they way they were meant to be seen.
Of course trains aren't the only thing I train my cameras towards. You could say that photography runs in my family; as my great-grandfather and great-uncle were both professional photographers back home in Albertville. In fact, the Johnson Photography Studio had been open for over 100 years until Uncle Robert O retired in 2009.
Oh, can't neglect to mention that I'm a proud second-generation alumni of Auburn University. War Eagle!
