Bio
In a small workshop using silver sheet and wire, I craft each piece by hand. I hammer, saw, pierce, solder, and forge the silver into different shapes and forms. Some pieces are complicated, requiring many different steps and solder joins, others use few steps to create simple and elegant designs. Special consideration is given to the type of finish that is applied. I polish, brush and/or oxidize (blacken) the pieces, depending on the intention of the design.
I use these traditional metalsmithing techniques to transform raw material into forms that explore the link between the industrial and organic worlds.
My pieces serve as personal decoration, but each one stands alone as a work of art.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, studying graphic design and painting. I began my work as a metalsmith out of a desire to work with my hands. I have always been curious about the metamorphosis from raw materials to finished forms. Working in metals and jewelry making has opened a new avenue of expression for me that I find highly satisfying.
My goal is to always create something of beauty and interest. I work to execute the best technique possible and constantly seek to elevate my abilities.
My husband and 2 daughters are a constant source of inspiration and motivation for me. I also draw from my personal pursuits of rock climbing, gardening and fine art.
