AEJMC is a non-profit, educational association of journalism and mass communication educators, students and media professionals. Founded in Chicago in 1912, AEJMC is the oldest and largest alliance of journalism and mass communication educators and administrators at the college level. The Association’s mission is to advance education, foster scholarly research, cultivate better professional practice and promote the free flow of communication.

AEJMC seeks to achieve this purpose by:

• encouraging the highest academic and professional standards of education in journalism and mass communication

• fostering scholarly research and inquiry in mass communication and facilitating the publication and distribution to the public of reports based on such activity

• supporting freedom of communication consonant with the ideal expressed in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution
