Service is paramount - all the advice you need is part of the package

At Advanced Housing Systems, we understand our product and service is very different from that of the majority of our UK competitors and matches the very best north European manufacturers who build to PassivHaus specification. This standard will reflect both in the comfort of your new home, its running costs, its carbon footprint and, particularly with the HIPS and other new UK regulatory necessities, the sales price should you come to sell.

Our service includes free advice and problem solving on all aspects of your build to a reasonable level that most clients usually describe, when looking back at the project as ‘very useful or essential’.

The Advanced Housing System self-build package includes everything required to take your project from initial design through to a high performance weather-proof shell complete with windows and doors, ready for trades to finish. We also provide a full build service to any specified Code level and have a build partner based near you who is happy to show you examples of their work.

While we build to PassivHaus principles, we can increase or decrease our specification to suit your budget, although the extra cost of PassivHaus or above is usually recouped in running costs and the value of the property.

tfSIPS™ - reconfigurable for your choice:

We believe clients should be able to have the advantages of cost-effective SIPS without losing the flexibility of timber frame. tfSIPS™ is reconfigurable for flexible architectural design and based on smart green technology:

Homes built using this system have typical performances:

•External Fabric including Roof: U-value of < 0.15 kW/m2 K

•Window and door package included using Passiv spec of < 1.0 kW/m2 K

•Air-permeability: < 1m3/h@50pa

•Exception acoustic insulation including internals walls using Fermacell with resilient bars

•Target total energy demand for space heating and cooling < 15 kWh/m2/yr against a typical 55 kWh/m2/yr for UK housing new builds (dependant on architectural factors such as south facing glazing).

Further Technical details

•tfSIPS™ is reconfigurable which means we allow you to choose the thickness of the panel and the principal core insulation from our standard recycled glass fibre or its equivalent in wood fibre, straw, hemp, sheep wool and other sustainable materials

•building off-site using modern methods of construction makes tfSIPS™ cost-effective with high quality control, allowing a ready to decorate finish, erected in around 2 weeks on site, in a closed panel format complete with service cavity (electrical boxes and conduits can be factory fitted)

•our standard panel comprises Panelvent sarking with 184mm timber (PEFC certified) studs, 180mm recycled glass fibre, proprietary low E vapour control layer with twin air gaps, Panelvent and Fermacell, which makes it exceptionally high performance while avoiding the industry standard OSB/oil based insulation construction. An internal sub-frame of certified timber allows a very rigid panel of high strength which can also be curved using a proprietary technique.
