I'm a photographer based in beautiful Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. I shoot portraits and weddings as well as exploring fine art photography.
When I am out shooting I try to make images, not just take pictures. Creative photography is a difficult medium because at its root, photography is not a creative process. The camera simply mechanically records the light it is pointed at. The creativity rests with the photographer making choices before, during, and after shooting. Those choices are what can elevate the level of the picture from simple capture to image.
I am continually inspired by photography and its rich and relatively short history. I love reading biographies of past photographers to see how the camera affected their lives. I'm also fascinated by the relationship between the technology and the resulting image, how our tastes seem to change with and rebel against technological advances. I love the way that the accessibility of digital photography has caused a new explosion of images. I can't wait to see the way it is used in the future.

I was photographing a wedding, and met a photographer who started talking with me. During our conversation the photographer said, "you know what? there is another photographer in town that you would really get along with quite nicely, you should meet him" basically that described Adam, how he is with just about everyone. Soon after I did meet Adam Graham and ever since I have been amazed and so impressed by him as a person and his eye for photography. He listened when no one else did about my passion and dreams for photography and always had the courage to tell me when some of my plans or thoughts were not as great as they seemed. A great listener and contemplater, who, turns that around and uses his experiances to create 'thoughtful art.' The the logical sense that Adam has is portrayed through his ideas, through is eyes and of course through his lenses. It always seems to me that what he is debating on the inside, sifting through fact and reason, always somehow comes out through art in the form of Photography. That is one of the reasons I was first drawn to his photography, and it has stayed that way since. Adam Graham is the best Photographer I know and probably the most well rounded Photographer I will ever meet.

I became acquainted with Graham's photos through a Utata project, and had a wonderful time browsing his photostream. He's got a gorgeous eye for composition and color, and a gift for using abstract forms in ways that keep them "grounded," if that makes any sense. I was also drawn into the sense of solitude and mild melancholy that I see in many of his images. Perhaps that is more a factor of the viewer than the artist -- but I really like it! I look forward to seeing more of his work.
