Hello,
I photograph what I see and—just like everyone else—reproduce the senses and emotions experienced, through the lens. It can be hit and miss but hey... this is art, right? No one said it was a straight line.
I tend to resist classification but most stuff fits into one or more of the following categories:
reportage/photojournalism/street portraiture/abstract landscape
My current body of work focuses on Asia, with highlights from Hong Kong, Burma and India. Early work centred on Europe and specifically Switzerland and the South West of England, where I grew up.
I have a growing interest in photography as a medium to inform and promote change-for-good, without itself becoming 'photojournalism'. Art has a strong voice and often a wide and powerful audience.
I shoot digital and film (135 and 5x4). I process all my film by hand and wet-print in my favourite Hong Kong darkroom: Photocrafters, or in the nearest light-proof bathroom...
Editioned prints are available for some selected shots, the majority of which don't appear here as they're all on film and paper. Please send me a message for edition and size details. I am always open to discussions about new representation, exhibitions, grants and commissions - contact me freely.
Have fun, be good.
