Hey I am a 30 something father and husband living out here in Hank Hill country, Frisco, Texas. I have always been interested in photography, but only recently have I actually gotten around to taking some photographs. It is all because of our new son Elias, he is such a joy to photograph, but now the photography bug has bitten hard. At the moment I have wandered into HDR photography, I have taken less than a dozen or so photographs in HDR, but excited about the possibilities, and look forward to going out and getting some more materials.
I find it exciting to bring those images back in on the computer and see what went right, and what didn't work, and then reading tips here on flickr. For example next time out, I am going to start shooting in RAW mode to help preserve some of the subtle things you need in HDR.
The strobist movement is very inspiring. Jill Greenberg, and David Hill are old hat to most of you, but they are brand new to me.
My equipment is very simple, I am shooting with a Canon Rebel Xsi, and sometimes a borrowed 580EX II Flash. My favorite lens is a Sigma 10-20. I enjoy pp as much as taking the photographs. I currently use Photoshop CS4 with a few aftermarket actions and Photomatrix Pro.
My current photography goal is to be able to take a decent portrait, and perhaps manage some off camera flash. Ultimately I would love to be able to catch some rain flying in the air, or at least create it in post that it is interesting and realistic. Rain is such a common part of nature yet seems to be missing from photography, you usually just have wet scenes.
Thanks for your comments and suggestions.
