I joined Flickr in October 2008 but have been involved with visuals since an early age. I began as a largely self-taught artist drawing much inspiration from the great masters such as Rubens, Da Vinci, Rembrandt, etc. I came to love the interplay between light and shadow, and how it created form and mood. I also became a professional musician. While on the road, I gravitated toward photography. It fed my desire to capture and express life in a visual sense at a time when I was not able to paint.

Almost all of the images I post here were taken in the USA State called Maine - more specifically, in or around Acadia National Park, the resort town of Bar Harbor, and surrounding villages. There are also recent ones from central Maine. Many of my images with area information can be seen at my website AcadiaMagic.com.

My style, when HDR or pseudo HDR is used, has been one of a more minimal approach with the intent of increasing the tonal and exposure range that I have to work with. I believe that an artist should be able to use whatever tools are available in order to create and communicate effectively.

My first photography book, called "Best of Bar Harbor," was published May, 2009 just in time for the summer season. I have hopes of locating a publisher for another book covering Acadia National Park. Unfortunately, so many publishers have folded over the last few years. I am looking forward to creating new photo creations this year. Petersen's Photographic Magazine featured my work in their Issue 20, September 2013 issue. Unfortunately, that magazine has since folded, a sad day for photography and the publishing industry.
