Happy Day, Flickrites :

I'm a simple guy with a camera & with a love of God, Nature, and photography...

and I like to have a good while I'm out there.

I'm not a pro and don't take the best shots, but as you can see in my photostream - I do get out into Nature and see / observe a lot around me.

I'd rather be on a trail than on a street...

I'd rather be alone than in a crowd...

I'd rather be enjoying God's natural world than man's concrete world..

... and, as Thoreau stated :

" ... I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself than be crowded on a velvet cushion... "

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notice: I will block you if your stream shows "nothing available to you" when I visit you and / or

it appears that you have posted photos that are not yours and/or

you have thousands upon thousands of contacts ( ... and it's a guarantee that I'll block you

when I see your contact list growing by 5-10 with every refresh of the screen ).

I don't see how anybody can keep up with 10,000-20,000+ contacts, so I therefore

regard it as suspicious as to why someone would do it.

I don't need nor want to be a statistic for you!

ALL PHOTOS ARE MINE and taken by me (with the exception of a few "jackass" shots of others and me, and those photos were given to me and noted )...

I spend my time and money to go out to enjoy Nature and to hopefully capture some photos, and

NOBODY has the right to take / download, link, pin, deep-link, post / repost, blog / reblog, or show my photos by any other means without my express and personal consent for a particular photo.

That goes for any photo anywhere that belongs to anyone else.

Taking another person's photo and adding some sort of "disclaimer" that the photos used on your website or blogs or Tumblr or wherever are/were taken by somebody else or adding a note "... "Source: Flickr/ac4photos"does NOT excuse you nor release you from being guilty of having committed the illegal act of stealing.

*****************************************************************

As I stated :

.. A simple guy with a camera & with a love of God, Nature, and photography... and I'm gonna have a wonderful time while I'm out there whether I take any shots or not...

I can be happy & content wherever I am ......... because that's the way that I am.

Hopefully I can bring a smile to someone through my photos and occasional witty & jack-ass titles and comments :-)

I enjoy being out on a trail alone and being serious when scouting for wildlife, and I like being with photog-friends when we meet-up.. and act-up ;-P

**

I bought my first D-SLR in May '08 and have been going out attempting to learn & to practice the different features, settings, & composition ever since then.

A big thanks to my first photog-buddy, Dennis Derby,

www.flickr.com/photos/7391462@N05/

who started shooting about the same time and has been a great shooting / hiking buddy ... and a pretty good friend outside of that ! lol

... and thanks to the Wascally Kevan & his wife Linda

www.flickr.com/photos/35303070@N02/

for the accompanying trips and tips and encouragement.

... and, yes, thanks to people like Tom, Donnie/Connie, and all the other SoFla shooters for all that we've shared and for putting up with me ! lol

I like to experiment with different subjects ( landscapes, mammals, birds in-flight, people, and macro ) and techniques.

Constructive criticism is ALWAYS welcome especially if you explain why you perceive a photo to be lacking along with what I could do better in the future.

********************************************************

I do make a conscious effort to attempt to visit the photostreams of everyone who leaves a comment / invite or "faves" one of my shots. It's not always possible for me to do so, but I do seriously try to allot myself the time.

Some people are not being respectful to me or to others,

So let's be clear:...

do NOT leave a comment on my photos which includes advertising for views of your pics and/or soliciting for people to visit you by telling/asking me & viewers to my stream to look, comment, & fave your photos... and do NOT post one of your pics in the comments under my photos ! ( ... unless you want to pay me to advertise your photos .. lol )

It's disrespectful and rude... so don't do it here.

* I will delete those type of posts, & I will not interact with you. *

I do not add people to see my number of contacts rise, and I don't want to be on somebody's contact list just as a statistic so they can have thousands of meaningless contacts.

Feel free to leave a comment (good or bad) on my pics.

Do NOT attack another commenter within my photostream.

If you're going to add me then at least have the courtesy to say something : constructive commenting, good or bad.

Also, I have seen comments (on my photos & other peoples') that don't even relate to the picture.. just a "generic" comment... and they use the same generic comment on my pic and everyone else they comment on. ( EG: "Nice color" commented on a B&W photo... and "beautiful shot" on a photo commentary showing trash left around a picnic table.

If you spam me (auto generated comments or through FlickrMail) then I will block you and report you.

********************************************************

My pictures are showing up in galleries, marked as "favorites," requested to be put in "galleries" which (when I investigate) turn out to NOT be a Flickr gallery but rather put on other websites, showing up in blogs, etc ....

My photostream is not a platform for your political, environmental, religious views, etc ...

This is a photo-sharing site, not an open forum for debate or attacks on other topics.

That includes people who do not like photos of dead animals.

I do have photos of me sitting with or holding dead animals.

I didn't kill them, but I do sometimes take a photo of or with them. I'm a jackass at times, & it can make for a funny shot.

If it bothers you or you don't like it then, by all means, click to another photo or even another photostream.

You don't have to like or to look at my photos.

*********************************************************

There are many people out there who are better photographers than I, but I think that I do reasonably well.

While I appreciate those who ASK PERMISSION to use my photos... I abhor those who do not ask and seem to act with ulterior motives.

I appreciate those who have had the desire to use my photos and have gone through the legitimate and proper methods and to obtain and to use my photos.

Reminder to everyone :

These are MY PHOTOS and are copyrighted..

I put in the time, effort, and expense to get my shots ( good or bad ).. so please don't steal.

Do NOT use any of my photos without my written permission / consent and without due credit, etc.

We met Owlan on one of our first outings looking for a particular bird. It was actually a post that he had made of the Red Cockaded Wood Pecker that had us out looking for it. We didn't find the Pecker on that particular day. Meeting Alan that day was better than any bird that we could have possibly come across. In the time sense we have gone on shoots with Alan and just run across him out shooting. Alan is always fun to shoot with. Alan has fun every time he is out and makes everyone else enjoy themselves as well. Alan never has a bad thing to say about anyone. There is no one that puts more into finding the subjects than he does the countless hours that he puts out in nature stalking his prey and learning there habits pays off in the shots that he gets. Alan's comments are always enjoyable it never just a canned comment!

Alan's love and respect for Nature comes alive in the beautiful images he captures. Not only is he talented, intelligent, genuinely kind and so very thoughtful....he is so much fun to explore the trails with. He has taught me so much about photography, Nature and life. His humor and positive attitude are contagious and I doubt anyone walks away after talking with him, reading his words, or viewing his photography without feeling better inside....and without a smile on their face. He's an amazing and beautiful human being. His quiet, respectful and purposeful approach to situations impresses me...and this also rewards him (and those of us who view his images) with the true beauty and wonder that Nature offers, through his eyes. I am so fortunate and thankful to know Alan....and look forward to many more happy and fun times on the Trail with him.

It's not uncommon to find me viewing his settings, hoping I could learn a thing or two ... or three. He excels at freezing action and getting crisp, well-composed shots from the best POV, capturing breath-taking beauty and raw nature. That compounded with his cleverness, humor and sugary sweetness makes him a favored photographer who endlessly inspires me. Getting caught in the rain while out on a shoot has never been so fun, lol ... I love him ! :)

I met AC early on into my exploration into wildlife photography and was very fortunate to do so. He and I shot with very similar equipment beforehand and were making our first forays into using SLR's, and so far we have had a good run. AC is gifted in moving quietly and going unnoticed when he is shooting, and has a keen sense of getting the behavior of his subjects. This guy can sneak up on a gator, raptor or just about anything else without it moving away. He is also very wise about using his equipment to the limits we had both switched over to manual early on, using manual focus as well and gauging lighting settings, spot focus and the problems of letting ISO getting too noisy. He's been a good shooting buddy as well as a good friend, and the only thing I can ask for him is to MAKE SURE YOU GET THE LAST PICTURE OF ME GETTING EATEN DOING SOMETHING STUPID! Not too much to ask for right? All the best to you my friend!
