My name is Syed Shahridzan Benagil, and I live in Kuala Lumpur. I started getting myself involved in photography when I was living in Manchester, United Kingdom. Whilst I was in Manchester, I went to a few workshops and classes organised by some of the talented professional photographers in the UK, i.e. Mark Skeet, Neal Lewis and Phil Winterbourne to help enhance my photography skills and techniques.

To me, amongst one of the biggest challenges as a photographer is to capture what lies beneath the surface while photographing only the surface, i.e. capturing the special moments that is worth so much behind it – something that is kept in our hearts and memories forever. It has been said that a photograph is worth a thousand words – it can be a bridge to past memories.

I also believe that photographs are not ‘complete’ without some editing skills in order to enhance the quality of the photographs. Therefore, I am a photographer who takes into account editing in the photographs taken. Furthermore, I do not depend 100% on natural lighting, as I like to use additional lighting with the aid of flash, photographic umbrella, and softbox in my work.
