I am a 71 year old retired professional. I did Agricultural Research in the Govt. Department of Agriculture, Sri Lanka. I took up photography as a hobby when I was a 15 year old school boy. We had a Camera Club in the school I went to, and we had a dark room with basic facilities to develop, print and enlarge B/W photos. We had great fun doing this. We also learned the basics of photography by trial and error. Our science teacher (Mr.P.Devadasan) was a great inspiration. I still use film cameras as film gives me great picture resolution and very good colours. Digital cameras with comparable picture quality tend to be very dear, however, I do agree that digital technology offers other great advantages such as digital editing programmes. As well as film cameras, I now own DSRL cameras and the Sony A-57 is my favourite.
