Producer Emily Bissland
Drag to set position!
Hello Outback Queensland!! I am Emily, I'm from south of the border, thats right; a Mexican, a Southerner, a ..... Melbournian. But hey, don't hold it against me, I've bought an Akubra and I'm not afraid to use it. . .
I'm the brand new first ever Open Producer for North West Queensland, which means I will be based at the ABC Radio station in Mt Isa, but will be travelling far and wide across the whole region, so ever if you live far away on Mornington Island or Hughenden, or Adel's Grove or anywhere else, make sure you get in contact with me.
I've loved photography since learning how to shoot and develop black & white film back in high school, before digital cameras even existed. I love photography for how it can capture parts of the world - it can capture an emotion; joy, lonliness, excitement, grief. You can capture a crucial instance; the moment before disaster or an instant afte. It can capture a whole story - a whole lifetime in one close-up portrait. You can stop time with it; holding a rodeo bull in mid-leap, with particles of sun-filtered dust billowing at its hooves and into its flared nostrils forever more... photography can show us how similar and how very different each of our lives are...
Why do you love photography? What unique outback Queensland stories do you need to share on your ABC?
