For years I walked the back roads, the forgotten roads, finding America’s past one rust bucket at a time. What others may have seen as junk, I saw as art that I would light up at night using small flashlights and strobes.
I spent four years wandering the abandoned past in Anchorage Alaska. During the summer months when the weather stayed above freezing, I was out on the trails enjoying the beauty of Mother Nature. When winter rolled around and the nights got longer and longer, I was out discovering the real Alaska; the kind you won’t find in a tourist book. From derelict vehicles to rotting buildings, this incredible state as a ton to offer! Due to the high cost of shipping and the lack of recycling centers and landfills, abandoned vehicles litter the back roads and backyards, just waiting to be photographed. Using nothing more than a couple of flashlights, off camera flashes, and colored theatrical gel, I would light up the subjects in bright yellows and creepy greens. There was little to no post processing in these photos, all the lighting was done in the 2-10 minute exposure time; leaving the image glowing with color.
Now back in Southern California, I am out on the prowl once again. Only this time, my focus has changed. Now I'm out to bring out the beauty of my home town from a different angle... above. Using a special rig on our airplane, open doors from helicopters, or one of the many drones in my fleet, I'm going for a unique angle, that few get to see. I hope you take the time to browse the website and enjoy my photos

There are only a few people in the world of night photography that I respect and Brett is one of them. He has come such a long way in such a short time. Brett called me one of 2 people that got him in to night photography, for me this is a great honor and now his photos inspire me as well. Chris [Nocturne]
