I I am fairly new to to digital photography and recently (April 2008) got a Panasonic FZ50. Never perceived myself as visually artistic (more of a wordsmith), but I am starting to see the world through a different perspective. I particularly like action and sports photography. Also Macro, black and white treatments and nature seem to work best with my camera. Recently trying to experiment with street photography. Basically I just love taking pictures and will find or create something to get shots of. That's why I like macro because there's a world within the small world at our feet.

I am a Flickr addict and love seeing what others are doing as photographers and artists. It has definitely made me better as a photographer... I am not yet an artist! Please feel free to add me as a contact/friend and I will most likely do the same. I try my best to give a comment/award for every one I receive but sometimes it takes me a little while to get back to you. Also feel free to offer constructive criticism to any of my shots. I want to always improve. Obviously do not take any of my shots but I should not have to say that because we all have integrity right???

My heroes are:

Einstein, da Vinci, Churchill, Ansel Adams, Bart Simpson, Ludwig Von Bertanffy

Why the name "Sfumati"?

One of my heroes is Leonardo da Vinci who painted the masterpieces "Mona Lisa" and "The Last Supper." In the Mona Lisa she is smiling in a mysterious manner and the shadowy area of her smile and eyes translates from Italian as "Leonardo's smoke" or "sfumato" That screen name was taken so "sfumati" is the plural of sfumato and was available. This is an art technique developed by da Vinci where colors smoothly blend together created by painstaking blending of thin layers of paint.

I like Flickr because we have something real to talk about; namely photography that at times actually becomes art!

You Are Expressionism

Moody, emotional, and even a bit angsty... you certainly know how to express your emotions.

At times, you tend to lack perspective on your life, probably as a result of looking inward too much.

This introspection does give you a flair for the dramatic. And it's even maybe made you cultivate some artistic talents!

You have a true artist's temperament... which is a blessing and a curse.
