Glynn, whose Flickr name is Stumpy 1956 has been a contact of mine for 17 months. when he joined Flickr first it was obvious he was very keen to learn more about photography and photographic techniques. I think he would be the first to admit intially he was very keen but had not had a lot of experience with how to get the best out of the equipment you have. Since then we have communicated on a regular basis and he has passed comments on my photographs. I have always tried to offer constructive criticism on his work and I am very proud of the fact that the improvements are amazing. He has not only come to terms with composition and setting but I think a bit of my philosophy has rubbed of on him in so much as "It's not the camera that takes great photographs but the person who is holding the camera" I know this may sound heresy to the purists but I have held this opinion for 55 years that no matter how expensive a camera is, if the person using it does not have an eye for a good composition the money is wasted. As Glynn has moved upmarket with his cameras his work has moved at the same paste as his improvement in techniques which means he is achieving an excellent standard which is always improving. I have always believed that if some one is prepared to listen to advice they won't go far wrong and I think as time goes on Glynn will help others get the best from their hobby
