Sorry to those who are interested in my profile but I'm putting this at the start in the hope it might save me some hassle.

If you follow me and

- have no photos or very few photos and/or

- you are following 1000s of contacts and/or

- you have far less faves than you do contacts,

I won't follow you & will probably block you . . . It's as simple as that.

When I was younger (& had less responsibilities), I had a couple 35mm SLRs. I loved them & took as many photos as my budget would allow. In June '13, after 20 years of point&shoot cameras, I finally bought myself another good camera - a fantastic Olympus E-M5. I have rediscovered my love for photography and am slowly refining what I do. 'Santa' brought me an off-camera flash for Christmas '13, so I'm now also doing alot of experimenting with lighting. I'm an civil engineering coordinator for a large local authority and although my days are filled with work, my thoughts are regularly interspersed with visions of the next 'great photo'.

 

I am exceedingly envious of those people who take great portraiture. My kids (occasionally my wife) are finally allowing me to take photos of them . . . At last, I'm getting to do some experimentation on that front.

 

Although we all love getting comments & favorites, the thing I like most about getting them is that they give me a link to other similar-minded photographers & their fantastic photos. Just so you know - It seems obvious but I only favourite photos if I particularly like them. Don't be concerned if I don't regularly favourite your photos . . . Be assured though, I regularly look at the photos of ALL my contacts.

 

Be forewarned that my comments are of the 'Great shot' or 'Nice composition' variety . . . I know alot people don't find that particularly genuine but I have to be sensible & split my time between dealing with my own photos, responding to contacts & making comments/faves.

 

As far as processing my pics, I have worked my way through the various stages from 'no processing' to 'whatever goes'. I'm still trying to work out Photoshop so most of work is done in Lightroom & Nik Efex. Shooting in RAW for the last 6 months has helped alot with that.

 

I don't have alot of gear. If you'd like to know, just ask
