Midwesterners don't have a lot of chances to see expansive hills or water, so we sometimes appreciate subtlety in natural color and form. That's my guess anyway. I hoped I could express that appreciation through photography. Maybe someday I will. In the meantime I'm just trying to catch the best things to remember in the best way.

Until recently, Winter kept happening. Winter steals the colors from most of the world around me, so I tried to compensate between May and September by taking ridiculous photos of leaves and sunsets. In winter I mostly took photos of fog when I could find it, or of "cold" on very cold days.

These days I live in a place without winter, so I'm not sure what I'm seeking.

I am still dreaming of a slitless, astronomy-grade (light-gathering) direct spectroscope attachment for my camera, so I can bring light spectra of everyday objects (paint, the window, lights, my cat) to flickr. I'm gathering lenses and prisms. We'll see how it goes. I have a few photos I made using my pizza box / diffraction grating scope, but it only works with very bright sources. One of these days I might just give up and spring for a new double Amici prism (still haven't found any used ones) and a telescope, and some epoxy to stick my camera on the back. We shall see.

Please check out my videos at youtube: youtube.com/user/wormfighter They are very much an extension of my photos.
