I admire people who have the creativity to design their own scenes to photograph -- and fortunately, I find many of those here.

My personal approach and philosophy are that LIFE constantly stirs the pot and causes amazing things to happen all around us, presenting us an incredible array of truly 'noteworthy' juxtapositions and unusual events, no matter where we are.

We ‘take note’ with our cameras. I try to document as many of these happenings as I am fortunate to recognize and capture. Honestly, I feel pretty good if I get 2-3 good shots out of a hundred that I see. (Having a camera helps.) Then there is also the bigger reality that, through no fault of our own, we happened to show up on an overwhelmingly beautiful, magnificent planet, dynamic with changing light, colors, moods…seasons and weather…before even mentioning the dramatic geology and topography…and that planet also contains so many other interesting creatures, plants included. So, personally, I almost never change or stage anything, but try to capture what I happen to encounter -- and feel lucky. (I have more or less lived my life the same way. I’ll let you know how that works out. So far, so good, with some bumps along the way.) The bottom line, I feel more alive, and more aware of what is going on around me, since I first grew a camera in my hand.

We photographers are fortunate to have this in common, and thus this community. Photography is one of those media that brings people together through sharing of perspectives. That could probably be said of most of the arts. Through YOUR eyes, I enjoy visiting places that I have never been before. Welcome, all, to these pages.
