Description
The Arnprior & McNab/Braeside Archives is a multi-municipal institution established by local volunteers as a non-profit, charitable organization, serving the citizens of the Town of Arnprior and MacNab-Braeside Township. The Archives was established to acquire, preserve and make accessible important historical documents pertaining to the history of the area.
Located in the lower level of the Arnprior Public Library, the Archives is open Monday - Friday from 1 pm - 3:30 pm or by appointment. And on Saturdays by appointment only.
There are over 200 collections, including municipal records, papers of various businesses and other institutional and private collections. There are significant photographic collections, containing more than 30,000 images.
Our holdings include:
-Microfilmed local newspapers
-Local census and cemetery records
-Municipal records, including assessment and collectors' rolls
-Community organization records, including local Women's Institutes community histories
-Private donations, including family histories, business records, journals, photographs, maps
-Land Records for the entire county of Renfrew from approximately 1867-1967
