Like so many others here on flickr, I go through phases of involvement in the flickr community. I can get really into "flickering" and then drop off suddenly when it becomes overwhelming. Whatever state I am in, one thing remains steady: I ALWAYS check out Gaston's work and have never been disappointed! In fact, quite the opposite is the case. Obviously, there are many photographers here on flickr who are quite good, a few select ones are even excellent. Without a doubt, Gaston belongs to this very select group of photographic masters. His images shine, they have depth, show incredible detail, tell a story, and make your jaw drop. Looking at Gaston's images, I cannot help but mumble to myself "How does he do it?" Of course, life dictates that I cannot dedicate too much time to checking out images and writing lengthy comments. Rarely do I feel anything when I missed someone posting images. With Gaston, however, I do feel upset - like I missed something exceptional. Fortunately, of course, I can always browse his stream and catch up... What's more, Gaston is very friendly and incredibly supportive. He eagerly leaves comments and invites you to display your images in various groups. When all is said and done, he personifies what flickr is all about: He gives you great images that are inspiring, while providing support, feedback, and friendship. Being on flickr doesn't get any better than this!

What could I say about Gas, one of my very best friends despite the 20-something age difference... I could start by telling you how we met but that would be a really long story given the fact that he lives in the USA, and I live in Croatia, or I could tell you how big of a friend he became to me in a period of just 2 months last year in Zagreb, Croatia... I might even tell you what great time I had visiting Gas and his family in San Antonio, TX this summer and how welcome I have felt, like I was their own... Gas is a great and enthusiastic person that has had some hard times in his life but with a little bit of faith it all turned out great. After all, good things happen to good people, and Gas is one of the best persons that I know. Every day he's getting better and better in photography which really makes him happy and it also makes me happy and kinda proud because I was the one who showed him the ropes and has given him a bit more insight to the wonderful world of photography. This is probably the only thing he would take my advice for. After all I am but a grasshopper to this extraordinary man with a kind of life very few have ever experienced. Gas is retired and there are three things that he really enjoys doing: cooking (he is the best cook I have ever met), gardening (this usually pisses him off but he does like doing it) and photography. I can't wait for Gas to come over here and celebrate the New Year's with me and the rest of his Croatian cohort of friends. We are waiting for you my friend! Thanks for everything!
