I started using Flickr to share moving paper toys by Dan Rudolph that were printed in newspapers between 1918 and 1923. In addition to the 29 toys that can be found on the Barnacle Press website, I have found and am in the process of cleaning up and sharing at least 30 more toys.

I love vintage images. Before digital images were readily available, I collected rubber stamps that enterprising folks made, often using vintage images from old print sources. Also before digital images, I found the Dover Publishing Pictorial Archive and used their images in various projects.

Now, with the amazing number of places that are preserving our history by digitizing their holdings I am searching out and sharing illustrations that many people might otherwise not see. I want to foster an appreciation of all the men and women whose artwork illuminated our lives before the invention and widespread use of photography.
